We want you to enjoy the event as much as possible – and to that end we find it adds to your enjoyment the more you become fully involved in the theme. This will certainly mean making astute observations and asking questions. It also means the  suspension of your disbelief – the more you use your imagination, the better.

Each event has a specific reason for the public assembly and on this occasion – Following the once near extinction of the entire parish populace, the village of Pucklechurch has enjoyed centuries of idyllic existence. In 1663 the Black Death (bubonic plague) had wiped out 80% of the village – only 3 families survived.
For several centuries since, as the village re-grew, life for the inhabitants has been without major incident, with little in the way to rock the boat; life for the residents of the village of Pucklechurch could be described as tranquil.
With villagers seemingly enjoying good health; it has been noted as being one of the healthiest places in England to live. Apart from the national water supply, the village has its own underground fresh water spring source - [the original reason for the medieval settlement] - which some locals use the sunken wells on their properties to water their gardens, top up their fishponds, etc. As the spring has several tributaries and outlets; visitors to the village often drink freely from several surface well pumps around the village.
The perfect English village; that is until recent events brought to the fore a disturbing series of events; now things have taken a turn for the worse… Hitherto, the particularly serene life in the village of Pucklechurch has always erroneously been attributed to the adherence to the folklore of The Curse of Martha Corey.
